Removing Rust from Stone

Rust stains can occur both inside and outside the home, caused by iron-containing products, such as metal furniture, tools, fertilisers and leaking pipes, and your stone floors and stairs etc may be susceptible to staining.

The main difficulty when removing rust stains from stone, is finding a product that will not cause harm to the substrate due to the delicate nature of its surface. Corrosive chemicals such as bleach and acid are likely to damage stone, as well as other mineral based substrates.

Our rust remover, Stinky Pinky, has a powerful, non-acid formula that transforms rust compounds into a water-soluble solution, dissolving the stains without causing any harm to the underlying material.

How to Apply Stinky Pink Rust Remover

Preparation: Stinky Pinky requires no dilution prior to use. Remove all grease, dirt and loose materials before application.

Coating: You need to apply a saturated coat to the affected area using either a brush or spray. The rate will vary depending on the surface’s absorbency. For natural stone, we recommend a coverage rate of 2 - 5m² per litre.

Reaction Time: For light staining, Stinky Pinky will get to work in just 10 minutes. For heavier staining, you can leave the formula for up to 2 hours. Apply another coat if the surface dries out.

Rinsing: Thoroughly rinse the area with clean water and allow it to dry. Please note that some immediate discolouration may occur on certain surfaces, but this will fade within 48 hours.

How Will I Know if Stinky Pinky is Working?

Stinky Pinky changes colour on contact with rust. As the name suggests - It’s pink and it stinks!

If Stinky Pinky fails to change colour then the staining is unlikely to be rust so you may need to find a different solution.
