Professional Waterproof Wood Sealer for Decking, Fencing and Outdoor Timber
Water is the primary enemy of outdoor timber. Whether it penetrates the surface in a downpour, works its way in gradually through condensation and morning dew, or freezes and expands within the wood's grain during frost, moisture ingress is the root cause of most outdoor timber failure such as warping, cracking, rot, and the biological growth that accelerates all of these.

What is the best waterproof wood sealer for outdoor use?
GK Invisible Wood Sealer is a professional-grade, penetrating waterproof sealer for wood that delivers deep moisture protection with no change to the wood's appearance. It's suitable for decking, fencing, garden structures, and outdoor furniture, and its algae-repelling formula provides additional protection beyond simple waterproofing.
Does waterproofing wood change its colour or finish?
GK Invisible Wood Sealer is specifically formulated to be completely invisible once absorbed. The wood returns to its original appearance with no sheen, tint, or surface film. If you want to change or enhance the colour of your timber, a decking oil or stain from our Timber Treatment range is the more appropriate product.
Can I use a wood waterproofing sealer on decking?
Yes. GK Invisible Wood Sealer is suitable for decking and does not create a slip hazard on treated surfaces. Allow 24 hours of drying time before placing furniture or subjecting the surface to heavy foot traffic after application.
How do I apply waterproofing sealant for wood?
Apply to a clean, dry surface using a brush, long-pile roller, or low-pressure sprayer. Apply two wet-on-wet coats, the second before the first has dried, to ensure deep penetration. Avoid puddling or runs, and remove any excess with a clean cloth. No dilution is required. The ideal application temperature is between 10°C and 30°C.
Is spray waterproofing for wood effective?
Applying GK Invisible Wood Sealer via a low-pressure garden sprayer is an effective method, particularly for large areas of fencing or cladding where brush application would be time-consuming. Ensure even coverage and follow up with a second coat while the surface is still wet for best results.
How long does wood waterproofing last?
In most conditions, annual re-treatment is sufficient to maintain effective waterproof protection. Use the water bead test to assess whether the existing treatment is still performing before deciding whether to retreat.
