How to use GK Wood Restorer

Product FAQs

Is GK Wood Restorer a paint stripper?

No, GK Wood Restorer is designed to restore wood – if surface is painted remove with a proprietary paint stripper before use.

Is your wood restorer biodegradable?

Yes, ECHA (European Chemicals agency), Biodegradation in water testing found the active ingredient in GK Wood Restorer™ to be “readily biodegradable”

Can this be used on old hardwood barrel that has not been treated for 3 or 4 years and has turned grey/silver in colour?

GK Wood Restorer will be perfect for this. We've written detailed notes on how to keep garden decking looking great in the long term, featuring other GK products we recommend for ongoing maintenance (see GK Pro and Greener Kleener).

How does GK Wood Restorer work?

High energy UV rays from the sun destroy lignin in wood and it turns grey or silver over time. GK Wood Restorer™ liquid has been specially formulated to restore the wood back to original colour and character.

How many times will I need to repeat the cleaning process?

It depends n the age and condition of the furniture – for most cases one thirty minute treatment will be sufficient however you may decide to repeat the process, this can be done with no harm to the underlying timber.
