The Timbabuild EWS Wood Stabilising Primer is a high-performance, two-part resin primer engineered to reinforce weakened timber by deeply penetrating the wood fibres. With its low viscosity and solvent-free formulation, EWS effectively stabilises and strengthens wood, making it an essential preparatory step before applying Chemfix’s Epoxy Rapid Cure (ERC10) or Epoxy High Build (EHB60) systems. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, EWS provides a reliable, durable base that enhances adhesion and durability of subsequent epoxy repairs.

To use, the primer’s 2:1 components are mixed thoroughly in a separate container before being applied with a disposable brush. The wood should be prepared by removing damaged material, sanding the area, and ensuring a moisture content of no more than 18%. Once applied, EWS cures in about 20 minutes, after which ERC10 or EHB60 can be applied to complete the repair. With excellent penetration capabilities, high strength, and straightforward application, EWS ensures optimal performance and longevity for timber restoration projects.

Product FAQs

What is Timbabuild EWS Wood Stabilising Primer used for?

Timbabuild EWS is a wood stabilising primer designed to strengthen and prepare decayed or porous timber before applying Timbabuild epoxy fillers. It ensures a strong bond and enhances the longevity of repairs.

How does Timbabuild EWS work?

Timbabuild EWS penetrates deeply into the timber, consolidating weakened fibres and stabilising the substrate. This creates a solid base for epoxy fillers and prevents further deterioration of the wood.

Is Timbabuild EWS suitable for interior and exterior use?

Yes, Timbabuild EWS is suitable for both interior and exterior applications. Its weather-resistant formulation makes it ideal for treating timber exposed to varying environmental conditions.

How long does Timbabuild EWS take to dry?

Timbabuild EWS typically dries within 1–2 hours under normal conditions. However, drying times may vary based on temperature, humidity, and the porosity of the wood.

How is Timbabuild EWS applied?

Timbabuild EWS is applied with a brush to the affected area, ensuring thorough saturation of the timber. Multiple coats may be needed for highly porous or degraded wood, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next.
